Hindmarsh Living News - June 2008

Interest in the Bellerive development in Lyons is continuing to grow with more than half the villas and nearly a quarter of the apartments already sold.

Designed as a lifestyle development for over-55s, Bellerive is located on the corner of Melrose Drive and Launceston St opposite the Woden Town Centre.

“It’s a fantastic location – a lovely undulating, green site close to everything the town centre has to offer,” says Hindmarsh Living’s Mladen Posavec.

Work is expected to get underway next month with the first stage ready for occupation in October next year.

“To date, we have exchanged contracts on 14 of the villas and apartments and taken deposits on another three.”

Posavec says interest rates don’t appear to be having an impact on potential buyers for Bellerive.

“We’ve actually just sold two of the apartments to couples who are currently overseas. They wanted to ensure they didn’t miss out if they waited until they returned to Australia.”

“My impression is that buyers are taking a longer term view. They’re preparing for retirement – or at least getting ready to ease back a little on their work commitments,” Posavec says.

“By purchasing off the plan now, they can lock in their arrangements but still have a good year or more to organise their affairs.”

An information centre has now been opened on the site near the corner of Launceston and Burnie Streets.

Erik Boddeus, Hindmarsh Living’s Operations Manager, says that as well as plans and sample boards of the interior fittings, interested buyers can now view a dvd which takes them on a virtual inspection of the different apartment and villa styles available in Bellerive.

“You can look at the architectural design and layout in considerable detail.”

There are 27 villas and 16 apartments in the initial stage.

The villas are available with either two or three-bedrooms. Each has their own garage, as well as two separate courtyards, one off the living and dining areas and the other off the bedrooms.

The apartments come with one, two or three bedrooms, each with their own undercover parking, lift access and spacious balcony.

First sales at Bellerive

At the Retirement and Lifestyle Expo in Canberra on the weekend of February 8-10, the Hindmarsh Living stand attracted a great deal of favourable attention. In the course of the weekend more than 9,000 people visited the exhibition and there were always crowds around our stand, keen to obtain more information about our new project at Lyons.

The Expo event marked the launch of Hindmarsh Living’s new brand and we had many people asking for brochures on our two Canberra communities. You can obtain a copy of our brochures by filling in your details on our contact page - just click here.

In the course of the weekend, 20 homes at Bellerive were sold. The location of this village, so close to Woden Town Centre, was clearly an important factor in its appeal. Many visitors told us they were looking for a quality lifestyle but with less home maintenance and more leisure time.  With shopping, entertainment and recreation facilities all within walking distance of Bellerive, leisure options are well catered for.
